Beauty Trends To Try…
By, Kelly Burns
Autumn has to be my favorite time of the year for beauty. Once the tan starts to fade I gravitate towards polished skin, shiny hair and I’m always on the look out for the new season lip colours. We looked back at the impressive line up of trends from the AW runways and road tested our 3 standout faves.
Paintbox eyeshadow is officially cool again. Artists lined models eyes in bright neon, created space age flicks in bright purple adorned with crystals and painted eyelashes in bright bold hues to match.
Yellow shadow was a popular choice backstage and is perfect for autumn. We filled in Nicci’s lids with a bright yellow eyeliner followed by a sweep of a more muted ochre yellow…using my finger to smudge the edges, nothing about this look should be too perfect.

Red is the original statement lip and thee lip color of the season. We saw lips in matte deep red, bright satin shiny red and dark ox blood red. The cool thing that they all had in common was how pared back the rest of the models faces were, glowing skin and barely much else was the perfect canvas to show case the models perfect pout.
Nicci has the most amazing fair skin so I painted on a cool cherry red, going over the whole lip with a matching lip liner first for precision. Keeping the rest of her face natural I just highlighted her eyes with an oyster creamy shadow.

I am an eyeliner fiend so naturally I was delighted to see so many eyeliner looks in this season. We had tiny micro flicks, sexy dark black feline flicks, smudgy kohl rimmed punk eyes and my personal favorite the modern graphic liner. Painted in black it still felt really delicate, but if you’re feeling adventurous try the acid bright detail work seen at the Jeremy Scott shows.
First I powdered Nicci’s lids with a pale terracotta shadow. Creating a cat eye from the inner corner of the eye using a gel liner, I swept it up and followed her natural crease. I tidied up any smudges with a cotton bud to keep the lines crisp.
